Parish Council Minutes October 3, 2017
Present: Father Hammond, Keith Miller, Dave Rashley, John Higgins, Marcia Durbin, Marie Holland, Amy Mickley, Sheryl Mickley, Theresa Morris and Steve Bratton
Excused: Don Hawk, Bobbi Thomas and Eric Morris
Approval of Minutes: Approved as written
Youth Report: First meeting of the year was September 17, with 13 teen present. Started a series “life skills” leading teens into adulthood. Areas covered are needs versus wants, dating, and finance. Each week of the series is tied to what is expected from us as an adult through our Catholic faith. Thank you to the parishioners that donated the 12 beanbag chairs for the youth group. Thanks to Fr. Olvera for his help in clearing out the room for the teens. October 22 will be the tour of Damascus where summer youth camp is held. The youth have been asked to help with the Sanctuary dinner on October 21. Working on plans for the Right to Life March in January.
Knights of Columbus: Family of The Month: Doug and Mariah Hawk – Doug and Mariah are both long time members of St. Luke’s. Doug has been a Knight for 24 years. Doug has been very active in his support of the promotion and advertising of the Council’s Fish Fry’s. Mariah is active at St. Luke and in the community. Recently, on her own, Mariah gave the KofC Hall a landscaping facelift. It was an outstanding job. It has prompted many compliments. Her initiative is greatly appreciated by Council 910. Congratulations to Doug and Mariah!
Knight of the Month: John Higgins – John is a longtime member of St. Luke’s and is a 4
th Degree Knight. John is very active supporting Council programs such as the Fish Fry and The Adopt a Highway Program. John is a Eucharistic minister, lector, usher, collection counter and is involved with That Man is You. He is on the Parish Council and is an active member of the Safety Committee. Congratulations John!

Annual membership drive has begun, running through October. Any man interested in joining please see Dave Rashley, Jim Puster or any member of the Knights.
Adopt a Highway pickup took place on October 1
st. Nine members supported the pickup.
Cemetery Mass will be October 29
th at the Cemetery, starting at 2:00. Father Blubaugh will celebrate the mass. If weather does not permit an outside Mass, we will move to the church. All are welcome to attend.
Squires: Hosted a basketball tournament in September; well attended by several Circles. Any young men interested in becoming a squire should contact Mark Hedge.
Parish Council of Catholic Women: September meeting with painting was cancelled due to lack of interest. October 17, 2017 at 5:30pm will go to French Ridge Winery. Fall Dance November 11
th at 6pm; call Marcia for tickets.
Deanery Report: No report.
Maintenance: Parking lot has been resealed. The sidewalk for the new gravel parking area is finished. Widening of the driveway at the cemetery has been completed. The resurfacing will be done in May, since it’s so late in the season now.
Finance & Administration: Remains in good standing.
Community Life: Fr. Lamy nominations due by October 4; voting will be the 7
th and 8
th of October. They will be awarded on October 14
th and 15
th. Turkey Dinner will be November 5, 2017. Fire Department Chicken Barbeque will be Sunday October 8
th from 11am-till they run out at the Danville Fire Station. Cost is donation, with all donations going to Ben Young.

Education: First week of PSR had 46 students; going well so far. Confirmation class is meeting on Sundays. Fr. Olvera is doing adult education during PSR time, everyone is welcome.
Worship: No report
Safety: Ladder Safety: remember to be aware of your surroundings. PSR plans to hold a fire drill and active intruder evacuation.
Other Business: Wireless microphone has been ordered to go with the projector system.
45 Ladies are attending the Walking With Purpose Women’s Bible Study on Mondays here at St. Luke’s.
Amy Mickley volunteered to fill Don Horn’s vacant council position. Motion made and passed for Amy to fill position.
Welcome Jane Butts to the office, it’s great to have her.
