YOUTH REPORT: The Youth Group assisted with the Christmas Party for K-6 as well as helped wrapped presents and attended the Kris Kringle party. 36 adults, and 24 youth attended. Thank you to Marcia and George Durbin for brunch, Cyndi Atkinson and family for the sugar cookies, Pat and Amy Mickley for the craft supplies, and Tom and Tammy Harrmann for table decorations. The Youth Group also helped with the Ministries Party and wrapping presents for Toys for Tots.
January’s lesson: “Identity” focusing on Teen Life. The group had a bowling party as well.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: The annual Memorial Mass took place on December 17
th and was very well attended. The Mass and dinner were held at St. Luke Church and Community Center. The regular 3
rd Degree meetings will resume their regular schedule this month, the meeting will be January 21
st at 7:30pm. Thank you to St. Luke parishioners for your continued generosity; the January “Support our Seminarians” was $142.54, Thank you!
2019 Calendar of Upcoming Events: There will be Fish Fries on January 25

nd. There will be Pancake Breakfasts on January 20
th, February 3
rd, and February 17
th. The Father and Son Banquet will be February 24
th.

PARISH COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN: There was no meeting in December. The Valentine’s Dance tickets are now on sale for $50.00 per couple. It will be held on February 9
th. The funeral dinners have been going well, with Deb Ridgway assisting. There will be self-defense classes March 3
rd through 31
st and will be held at the Devil Dome once a week from 1-3pm. Call Marcia Durbin with any questions.
DEANERY REPORT: No new report. The next meeting will be February 6
th.
MAINTENANCE: The fire extinguisher and bracket was repaired in the Center and a new smoke alarm was installed. The Raredos and Statues have been cleaned. The Holy Oil Cabinet and electrical box on the pole in the parking lot were repaired. Some issues in the garage and Center office were addressed, as well as the Center restroom stall doors. An outside garage light will be installed soon, and quotes are being looked into for repair to the sagging floor area in the Church.
The 2020 Renovations Committee is continuing its work. No new update.
COMMUNITY LIFE: The wrapping of the Christmas baskets went very well this year; there were 70 baskets total (117 children). The Church was decorated for Christmas, and help will be needed to take the decorations down this Sunday after Mass if anyone is available. The Ministries party was held this past Sunday with a great turnout. Couples married 50 years or longer will be honored on Feb 9
th and 10
th this year, for the Worldwide Week of Marriage.
SOCIAL CONCERNS: January is Poverty Awareness Month. There will be a Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children on January 22
nd, 2019. The Respect for Life Mass is January 22
nd, 2019 at St. Joseph Cathedral at 10:30am. The March for Life trip is in Washington D.C. January 17-19.
The “9 Days for Life” will run January 14-22. Join thousands of Catholics across the country coming together in prayer during the bishops’ pro-life novena, 9 Days of Life. You can participate through email, text message and mobile app. More information is available on the Social Concerns website under “Pro-Life Activities”.
EDUCATION: Thank you to everyone involved in the Christmas Pageant; Marcia Durbin, PSR teachers, students, Rochelle Adam and the choir.
PSR resumed Wednesday, January 9
th. The next teacher meeting is January 20
th.
BEREAVEMENT: The first annual Memorial Gathering was held in the Center on December 14
th – 26 people attended. After receiving great feedback about the gathering, it is planned to repeat the event for the 2019 year. The Interim Mass for Vivian Smith is being re-scheduled, due to a Funeral Mass scheduled for the planned day. Anniversary Mass announcement letters are being sent out to those who experienced the death of loved ones in early 2018, although this does not conclude the Bereavement Ministries service to them.
WORSHIP: Due to Easter being later this year, there is no schedule released for those Masses yet.
SAFETY: The SimpliSafe system has arrived and installation is being reviewed.
Suggested Winter Driving Supply Checklist: Check your vehicle for these items, and if you don’t have them, consider adding them to your next shopping list!
Flashlight, batteries, blanket, non-perishable food/snacks, water, gloves, boots, first-aid kit, cell phone charger, tire chains, ice scraper and/or shovel, jumper cables, flares, kitty litter or sand (for traction issues), and a whistle to signal for help.
PARENTS: Parents are still encouraged to accompany their children when using the restroom, etc. to avoid any unnecessary dangers that may arise should they be alone.
