APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes were approved as written and amended. Barb McComb will deliver bears to people, not mail them.
YOUTH GROUP: Assisted with getting activities ready for Kris Kringle held on Dec. 9. (30 Seniors and 24 7-12
th grade students attended.) Wrapped presents. Will assist with PSR children’s party Wed., Dec. 5. Youth Christmas party will be bowling December 16.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: Knight of the Month: John Blanchard – John is a lifelong member of St. Luke and St. Vincent parishes. He has been a member of Council 910 for over 30 years. John is a past Grand Knight and remains committed and involved in Council activities. He supports the Fish Fries and Pancake breakfasts. He is always willing to help in any way needed. John has supported the St. Luke Parish Festival for many years, and helps with set up and teardown. John is deeply committed to his Catholic faith, his family, and the Knights of Columbus. Congratulations.
Family of the Month: Mark and LuAnn Latorre – Both Mark and LuAnn are committed to St. Luke and their Catholic faith. In addition to his membership in Council 910, Mark is a Fourth Degree Knight, currently Faithful Comptroller for the Assembly and is leading the Council’s efforts for advertising events. Mark and LuAnn are collection counters. Mark is a lector and Eucharistic minister. Both support the Fish Fries. They work the food line, the kitchen, always ready to help clean up or whatever is needed. Both can be seen actively working and supporting the annual Parish Festival. Congratulations!
The annual Free-throw event took place on November 18. Thank you to Bob Blubaugh for all your efforts leading this year’s event.
Total donation for the December ‘Support our Seminarians’ was $181.04. Thank you to St. Luke parishioners for your continued generosity.
2018 Calendar of upcoming events: Fish Fry – December 7, Pancake Breakfast – December 16, Annual Council 910 KofC Memorial Mass – Monday, December 17 at 7:00pm. Mass will be in St. Luke Church, followed by a pot luck dinner in the Community Center. All parishioners are welcome to attend.
SQUIRES: Two Squires (Joseph & Darien) attended a spiritual retreat in Kettering, Ohio.
PARISH COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN: No meeting in November since no one signed up for CPR.
MAINTENANCE: Met with Hamilton Builders and Bob Sission from Columbus Diocese about the church floor and replacing the supporting beam. Remounted grates in rectory porch foundation block. Trimmed and refit cabinet door and fixed partitions & roller track in the island in Center kitchen. Remediated questionable wire & plug in box in Center. Welded and repaired yellow advertising sign and installed new wheels. Replaced light bulb over north Church door with 75W LED. Danville Fire Department is scheduled to come Thursday, December 6 for inspection.
2020 RENOVATIONS: Not much activity in November.
FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION: Everything is going well.
COMMUNITY LIFE: Will prepare meal for priests before the Advent Penance Service on December 12.
We will prepare appetizers and dinner for the annual parish Christmas Ministries party on January 6, 2018.
EDUCATION: PSR Christmas party – December 5; Advent Penance Service – December 12; Christmas Pageant practice – December 19. Second graders completed a retreat Saturday, December 1
st and are ready for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Contacted DHS/Mr. Snively regarding girls’ biddy ball games being run at the half-time of high school girls’ games. Asked the school to please do more to preserve ‘Church’ night on Wednesdays. Also had an issue with parking lot on Wednesdays. High School game took all the spots and parents had no place to park to pick up their children.
BEREAVEMENT: The first memory bear has been completed. Barb will make arrangement to deliver it soon. She has purchased prayer cards to be placed in the pocket of each bear. Beginning Dec. 1, she has extended full support of the Bereavement Ministry (cards, casseroles, etc.) to parents who have experienced the death of a child. Beginning in 2019, will add Thanksgiving cards to the items we mail in support of those who have lost a loved one. Sent a card to Marilyn Arnold who had a mild stroke, and to Shelby Mickley congratulating her on the birth of her new daughter.
Anyone is who homebound, may call the parish office to have communion brought to them.
WORSHIP: Immaculate Conception, December 8, is a holyday of obligation and Masses will be Dec. 7 at 6:30pm and Dec. 8 at 9am. Prayers are requested for Fr. Victor Wesolowski.
Nominations for Parish Council Candidates: It was decided to present candidates to the parish December 15-16. Three candidates were approved: Keith Mickley, Barb McComb, and Chris Mehringer-Smith. Barb and Chris have each served the final year of terms for members who resigned. Bylaws states that no vote is needed.
Eucharistic Adoration: Winter hours were discussed.
