St. Luke Parish Council Minutes August 31, 2015 Present: Fr. Hammond, Vic Campanelli, Tom Harrmann, Tammy Harrmann, Bobbie Thomas, Dave Rashley, Marie Holland, Roger Holland, Don Hawk, Marcia Durbin, Amy Mickley, Joanna Mickley

Call to order: President Vic Campanelli
Opening Prayer: Led by Father Hammond
Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve June minutes as written. Motion passed.
Youth Group: Amy Mickley reported T4C (Teens for Christ), started meeting this summer. In June, seventeen youth attended the Splatterpark, in July sixteen went to the Ariel Adventure in Mohican, then in August went canoeing with 14 youth. The Youth also ran the games for the parish festival. On August 23, twelve teens went to St. John Neumann in Sunbury for Mass, dinner and concert. The opening for Life Teen will be on Sunday, September 13 and it is open to all students in grades 9-12. Meetings will be the first three Sundays of each month from 6-8pm.
Thank you to the parishioners that donated the t-shirts for the youth and core team.
Squires: The Squires met in August. They will be hosting the State Squires Basketball Tournament September 12-13. Members attended the state convention. Mark Fongheiser has been elected to the State Squires as State Marshall. St. Luke Squires will be hosting the Volleyball Tournament in April, 2016. They are currently recruiting new members and a second counselor. They may reach out to St. Vincent for members, since Mt. Vernon does not have a Squires program.
Knights of Columbus: Installation of new officers took place on August 17
th. The first fall pancake breakfast is September 20
th; fish fry September 25. October 25
th is cemetery Mass. 2015 awards and reception will take place on November 22
nd. 2015 membership drive will be November 7
th and 8
th after each Mass in Center.
PCCW: Held bloodmobile in June. Set up calendar for coming year and will be having Ladies Nights Out. September will be the Harvest Auction, October – trip to winery, November – painting a snowman, December will be caroling, January – painting, February – line dancing, March is pamper yourself, April visiting the Arboretum. A donation was made to Royal Kids Camp.
Deanery Report: Meeting next week.
Maintenance: The side door to Father’s sacristy is in need of repair; will fix the best can for now. Looking into a new door, since it is an odd size we will need to find someone to make it and get pricing. Looking into concerns regarding walkway by cellar doors. It was brought up that may need some work on cement steps and sidewalks; will be doing some checking into the areas and get pricing.
Finance and Administration: We continue to have good collections at this time.
Community Life: Had a nice turn out for the picnic with approximately 30 people attending. All pictures have been taken for the Pictorial directory. The paperwork for the directory is being finished.
Social concerns: Tammy talked about the Arms of Angels and how they offer support to drug addicted patients and families.
Education: PSR year will be starting on September 16
th with Mass and registration. We are still short teachers for 5
th and 6
th grades. We will have Confirmation on June 8, 2016 and we will confirm students in 7
th, 8
th, 9
th and 10
th grades this year.
Worship: Nothing at this time.
Safe Environment: Nothing at this time.
Old Business: Continuing to work on best options for moving hymnal posting.
New Business: None
Agenda Items: Parish Festival went well this year, just short of goal the committee set. Thank you to everyone for their support.
The Consortium will have only one RCIA class. Currently the sessions will alternate between St. Vincent and St. Luke.
