St. Luke Parish Council Minutes December 2, 2014
Present: Fr. Hammond, Mark Latorre, Tom Harrmann, Tammy Harrmann, Bobbie Thomas, Ed Annett, Vic Campanelli, Dave Rashley, Marcia Durbin, Marie Holland, Roger Holland, Monica Blanchard, John Higgins, Joanna Mickley, Don Hawk, Bobbie Thomas, Regina Quinn II.

Call to order: President Mark Latorre at 7:02 pm
Opening Prayer: Led by Father Hammond
Election of Officers: Vic Campanelli -President, Don Hawk- Vice President, and Marie Holland- secretary
Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve November 3
rd minutes as written. Motion passed.
Youth Group: Youth are doing the Train the Trainer. Youth will be available to serve at Father’s Ministry Party in January. Diocese has upcoming events: Bosco Bash in January and Youth Rally in the spring. Church of the Nativity is taking students to the Diocesan offices for visitation and asked if any of our students are interested. Let Tom know if interested. Regina Quinn II talked about World Family Day in Philadelphia, PA in September 2015. The Diocese is getting information out in various ways or you can go to
www.worldmeeting2015.org. Squires: Mark Hedge is working on taking over as the leader.
Knights of Columbus: November Knight of the Month is Andre Dessert. Andre is a 4
th Degree Knight and has been an active member of the group. The November Family of the Month is Leonard and Sandy Mickley. A Memorial Mass will be held December 15
th at 7pm; everyone is welcome. The Award ceremony was held last week after Mass. December 12 will be a Fish Fry.
PCCW: The Turkey Dinner and Bazaar was held November 2. There was nothing to raffle. The Senior Citizen turkey dinner had 71 reservations; all enjoyed the meal. The Children’s Christmas Party will be held December 3. They will be making small advent wreaths, decorating cookies, singing songs and meeting Santa. Beautiful centerpieces were made at the last meeting. The next meeting is January 26, 2015.
Deanery Report: The Deanery met November 11, 2014 at Saint Francis de Sales in Newark. The Priest’s meeting discussed concern about Catholic School graduates not following through with their religious affiliation. The reason we have Catholic education is because these students are the future of our Church.
The March for Life trip to Washington DC is January 21-24
th.
“Love is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive” is a preparatory catechesis for the World Meeting of Families in September, 2015. It can be used in group study. Bobbie Thomas, Tammy Harrmann, Joann and Vic Campanelli will review the program for possible use.
Maintenance: A door bell has been installed at the office; positive feedback has been received. George Durbin has been checking on the rectory and has done several side jobs. The side entrance door to the church has rust starting and needs attention; will check to see if there is any warranty and go from there.
Finance and Administration: Father Hammond talked about compensation for Deacon Brian when he comes out on the weekends. He was not sure of the amount.
Community Life: The Giving Tree is up and gifts are coming in. Right now we have 108 baskets with 227 children (112 boys and 115 girls). The baskets will be packed Sunday December 14
th at 6pm. The church will be decorated December 21 after the 10am Mass. No Pizza Party. The Ministries Party is January 4, 2014 with appetizers at 4:00 and dinner at 4:30.
Social concerns: Topics were NAMI awareness, Abortion Healing Ministry, and the Right to Life March in January.
Education: This week will be the Christmas Party for grades K-8.
December 10 is the Parish Penance service during PSR, with grade 3-8 students participating.
December 17
th is Pageant Practice. Pageant will be Dec. 24 at 7pm.
Kris Kringle Party for Grade 7-12 students & senior parishioners will be held Sunday, December 28.
Worship: Nothing new.
Safe Environment: Nothing new
Old Business:
Maintenance of the buildings is moving forward. Bids have been submitted to the Diocese. Will get financial pieces put together next. Will start looking at future needs down the line.
Discussion took place concerning a Parish Picture Directory. No decision was made at this time.
New Business:
It was discussed that it’s time to start working on the Parish Directory for the
New Year. It was decided to have census cards in the pews at church till December 21, 2014. Please fill them out and make the job easier for Sandy.
It was discussed that the bylaws need to be amended to add safe environment. Motion was made and was passed.
Thank you to Mike Quinn for donating a TV to the church.
