Parish Council Minutes May 1, 2017

Approval of Minutes: Approved as written
Youth Report: Working on new unit to assist with identifying “how are they made” Parish →Diocese → Universal Church. Looking at community members who volunteer for the church and why. Two more sessions for May and then off for the summer with the exception of helping with the parish festival. Future project – mission trip. Congratulations to Nick Tharp for coming into the church this year with RCIA.
Knights Of Columbus: Council 910 would like to thank the parishioners of St. Luke for their generous support of this year’s fish fries and pancake breakfasts. We look forward to seeing everyone in the fall.
Knight of the Month: We wish to congratulate Ed Gardner as the April Knight of the Month. Ed is a very active member in council 910 and in St. Luke’s Parish. Ed is Treasurer for Council 910 and involved with all fish fries and pancake breakfasts. As well as memorial events with the knights. Ed is a Eucharistic Minister, participates in “That Man is You”, and other ministries. Ed is a Fourth Degree knight and a member of the color guard. Congratulations Ed on this well- deserved recognition,
Family of the Month: Congratulations to Roger and Kathy Durbin as April Family of the Month. Roger and Kathy are longtime members of St. Luke Parish. Demonstrate the strong Catholic family faith. Roger is involved with many church ministries including, Eucharistic Minister. He also prepares the church for Sunday mass. He is a server at funerals and special masses. Roger, a Fourth Degree knight, is an active member of the color guard. We wish to recognize and again congratulate Roger and Kathy as Family of the Month.
2017 Calendar and upcoming events:
Mother and Daughter Luncheon will take place at 11:00 AM on May 7.
State Convention is May 26, 27, and 28.
Our annual Measure- up Fundraiser will be Saturday, May 6 in Danville.
Adopt A Highway has been rescheduled for June 17.

Parish Council of Catholic Women: Prepared a luncheon for the ADAM seminar on 4/23/17 with 35 people in attendance. Danville school clean up May 16
th. Our thanks to the Campanelli’s for donating mulch. Seder meal was held with about 85 in attendance. Thank you to Deacon Tim, Charlie Bratton, Marie Mosher and family.
Deanery Report: Next meeting May 9th. Social Concerns office is offering assistance with family addiction issues with Bishop Campbell seeking community suggestions on how to assist with ending addiction in our communities. If want more information contact Jerry Freewalt at 614-221-5891. Suggested book “How the Birds Stop Singing” by Jamile Wakin Fleming MD – Stories of Drug & Alcohol.
Maintenance: Looking at current condition of parking lot, cemetery, and checking about resealing. Looking at creating a new parking lot on west side of community center to assist with overflow. Eric Morris and Steve Bratton to research estimated cost.
Finance & Administration: Bishop’s Annual Appeal begins next week for 2017. Parish Council is in agreement that any overage collected this year from the annual appeal should be put towards projects for re-sealing current lot, cemetery, and to create a new lot if feasible.
Community Life: Mother/Daughter banquet May 7
th all women and daughters of the parish are welcome. ADAM Seminar was last Tuesday with 35 in attendance.
Social Concerns: Concerned about keeping Wednesday nights church/family night due to school’s sporting events/games now being scheduled on Wednesday nights because of new league.
Education: May 3
rd May Crowning and Closing ceremony. High school graduation Mass June 4
th.
Worship: Fr. Hammond discussed the wrap-up of Holy Week and Easter.
Safety: Safety tips for spring storms and dangerous weather.
Other Business: Wireless projector system is almost complete. Thank you to Don Horn and Joe Tapocsi for volunteering their time and resources for the electrical component of this project.
