There is no substitute for the family in passing moral responsibility on to their children. There must be guidance from the home.
What can be done from the pulpit concerning the drug problem?
Inform the congregation of its resources available in the community and diocese. Note that the social concerns office is ready and willing to help. Parish youth groups should take an active role in conversation with their students concerning the drug problem. Another suggestion is to sponsor job fairs, informing students as to what jobs are available. Having a job will help improve self-esteem and low image of oneself. Remember, drugs are not the solution—they will kill you!
