Parish Council Minutes May 4, 2020 at 6:30pm with ZOOM
PRESENT: Father Hammond, Roger Durbin, Marcia Durbin, Ed Gardner, Barb McComb, Sheryl Mickley, Joe Tapocsi, Dave Rashley, Keith Mickley, Bill Durbin, Marie Mosher, Chris Mehringer-Smith
EXCUSED: Tammy Harrmann, Shelby Mickley
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Joe Tapocsi called meeting to order, with Fr. Hammond leading an opening prayer. Chris Mehringer-Smith motioned to approve March minutes as written, seconded by Barb McComb, all approved and motion passed.
EDUCATION: Youth Group: Honoring 4 graduates and gathering information to be placed in the bulletin (about their future plans, extra-curricular and church activities). Would like to have Graduation Mass if possible. Planning for future leaders for the Youth Group.
Confirmation: We need to notify parents as soon as possible in regards to Confirmation. Is it postponed and what is future date? Fr. Hammond stated there are zoom meetings with the diocese in the next week and that he hopes to gain information in regard to Confirmation.
PSR: 2
nd graders still need to complete a few classes and their 1
st Communion. Father will let us know soon what the diocese is approving.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: They had a Zoom meeting April meeting. State Convention is virtual this year: 9am to 11am, May 16, 2020. May meeting will be held based on current guidelines. Thanks to Jim Puster for all his help and all he has done with the Knights. He's stepping down from Deputy Grand Knight and Frank Meravy will replace his position.
Squires: No Report.

PARISH COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN: Scholarships applications have been sent to our four seniors. Everything else has been cancelled.
DEANERY REPORT: No report
MAINTENANCE: The Center and Church smoke alarms have been checked. Exit light had a new battery put in, table was fixed, caulked walls in bathrooms, new key boxes installed in back of center, grass seed sewn, hostas replanted at church, cleaned stove and ovens filters. Winterized snowblowers. Flag replaced at cemetery, center flag having to wait on the size.
RENOVATIONS 2020: Slowed down a little for the social distancing, but pews are in and done. Artist coming Tuesday. May 22nd is the date to be done.
COMMUNITY LIFE: 200th Celebration Mass scheduled August 15, 2020. Picture Directory cancelled for June. We will reschedule when able too. Ladies Night Out cancelled. Seder Meal was cancelled. Starting Point was virtual Barb McCombs watched it.
SOCIAL CONCERNS: May is the Month of Mary and Mental Health Month. May 7 to 15 is the Novena to St. Isidore, Patron Saint of Farmers. Catholic Rural Life is leading a special virtual novena from May 7 to May 15 led by bishops from their board of directors, lifting up all the intentions of rural communities throughout our country. RESPECT LIFE: No report
BEREAVEMENT: Jim Colopy died 4/16, Mass of Internment was scheduled, sent 9 sympathy cards, and ordered 9 ornaments. Annual Masses were schedule and the newsletter changed for the Mass Intentions. Fr. Hammond stated all Mass Intentions are said through him and Fr. Olvera during daily Masses. Bereavement would like to donate toward the purchase of 1 Station of the Cross.
WORSHIP: On Twitch and Facebook you can watch daily Mass at 12:15pm and Sunday Mass at 10:00am. Confessions were held Saturday with Fr. Homer; around 14 attended.
SAFETY: Standards for Coronavirus and know your plans for tornados. We are ready to move forward with Hearing Loop. Warren Brown has asked us for a couple of dates and believes he can accomplish the installation without interference with renovation.
Security System: Was functioning on a Schmidt upgraded router/modem prior to shut down. Will get refund for church purchased modem when stores reopen. Security system running off modems now.
FINANCE: Collections holding their own. Approved for the SBA loan and $10,000 already deposited. Big thank you for all the parishioners continuing generosity. BAA is postponed for target date July.
Miscellaneous Notes: Church sound system- discussion on costs of different companies. Chris Mehringer - Smith motioned to let maintenance committee to spend up to $15,000 for the sound system. Seconded by Barb McCombs. Had a discussion and Father stated spending over $10,000 must be approved by Diocese. All in favor. Motion passed. We will be applying for a grant.
Parish Festival - Discussion on the safety of having it. Dave Rashley motion to cancel the 2020 Parish Festival, Seconded by Ed Gardner. All in favor motion passed.
Maple tree - A maple tree in back yard is rotten and needs to come down. McFadden's logging can take it down. PCCW said they will pay for it.
