St. Luke Parish Council Minutes April 12, 2015
Present: Fr. Hammond, Vic Campanelli, Tom Harrmann, Bobbie Thomas, Dave Rashley, Marcia Durbin, Marie Holland, Roger Holland, John Higgins, Don Hawk, Bobbie Thomas, Regina Quinn II, Excused: Joanna Mickley, Tammy Harrmann, Monica Blanchard
Call to order: President Vic Campanelli
Opening Prayer: Led by Father Hammond
Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve March 1st minutes as written. Motion passed.
Youth Group: Amy Mickley is meeting with Fr. Hammond on Tuesday regarding new program coming soon.
Squires: Have been active with fund raising bake sales. Thank you for your support. General schedule in place.
Knights of Columbus: The Knights of Columbus would like to extend a sincere “Thank You” to St. Luke’s Parish for your support of the Fish Fries and Pancake Breakfasts. Your participation is greatly appreciated. We look forward to seeing you in the fall. The March Family of the Month is Don and Barbara Horn. Don joined the Knights last fall and both he and Barbara have been involved with many activities, in particular working at the Fish Fries. Congratulations to Don and Barbara. The March Knight of the Month is Mark Latorre. Mark also became a Knight last fall and has been very active, also supporting the Fish Fries and Pancake Breakfasts. Congratulations to Mark
PCCW: Cancelled meeting in March. Held Good Friday luncheon. Served approximately 55 people. Next meeting is April 27. Will hold Mother Daughter Banquet May 3
rd. Sold tickets for the Knights.
Deanery Report: 3 Parishes are making the bus trip to the World Meetings on Families in Philadelphia. They are St. Mark’s, St. Timothy’s and St. Mary’s. They are open to all in the deanery. Contact one of the parishes if interested. Catholic Services is sponsoring a “Lend a Hand Program”. Purpose is to help low income seniors with home maintenance. Volunteer on line at
www.colscss.org for “Service Saturday” May 16, 2015. Deadline is Monday April 20, 2015, for Women’s Retreat at St. Therese’s Retreat Center April 24-26; still time to register. Maintenance: Research done for possible new playground equipment. Will check on a few more prices and bring a total back for the next meeting. George Durbin and Keith Mickley took care of water in the basement of rectory and church. Discussed the cracked flagstone in front of church from the restoration, working with the company to decide how to fix. Replace the flagstone which is very costly or replace with color concrete. Don Hawk will see about getting stone for the upper parking lot.
Finance and Administration: Nothing new at this time.
Community Life: Held the Sedar Meal on Palm Sunday. Had approx. 100 people. Big Thank You to Tim Birie and Fr. Homer. Held the Easter Party for the new Catholic members of the church to welcome them and their families.
Social concerns: N/A
Education: In the final stretch of the PSR year. April 29
th is the last regular class, with May Crowning on May 6. First Communion Mass is May 17
th at the 10 am Mass.
Worship: No new updates.
Safe Environment: Audit is done and been approved.
Old Business: N/A
New Business:
There will be a survey soon on the church website regarding the festival.
Council listened to 2 presentations regarding a Picture Directory. Discussion was made to move forward with Re:member to present. Information will be in bulletin when time gets closer.
Cemetery Caretaker bid was placed. Fr. Hammond will take to cemetery committee.
