Youth Group: The new TV?s are here for the Y Disciple Program. The Youth Group is very appreciative of the purchase. Currently underway is ?training the trainer.? The program will be starting full ramp up and expansion after the holidays. The Group is currently evaluating fund raisers to help pay for the trip to see the Pope. Projects under consideration include car washes and pizza sales. Discussion took place regarding the Youth Group supporting the seniors of the Parish through fall and spring yard clean up, shoveling snow and carrying out trash. The Bosco Bash will be held for middle school age teens in January at St. Paul?s; more information will be forthcoming. Knights of Columbus: The October Knight of the Month is Ed Gardner. Ed is a 4
th Degree Knight and a member of the Color Guard. We thank Ed for all his time and support of the Council, managing the financial accounts. We also wish to thank and congratulate Kevin and Laura Wills as the October Family of the Month. Laura?s time and involvement in the Parish Music Ministry as well as Kevin?s support of the Fish Fries and Pancake Breakfasts is recognized and greatly appreciated. Congratulations again to Ed, Laura and Kevin, outstanding job! The Knights wish to thank all who attended the recent Mass at the Cemetery. We especially thank Father Vince for celebrating the Mass. The Knights will hold their annual membership drive on November 8
th and 9
th. A brief information session will be held at The Center after both the 5:00PM and 10:00AM Mass; all are welcome to attend. The next Fish Fry will be November 14
th, followed on November 16
th with a Pancake Breakfast.
Parish Council of Catholic Women: Donations to Starting Point were successful, our thanks to everyone who contributed. Cards were sent out by the PCCW. Regina Quinn I won 2
nd place at the Methodist Church Apple Pie Contest; Congratulations Regina! The Turkey Dinner Bazaar went well. The Senior Citizen Turkey Dinner will be held on November 20
th. The Children?s Christmas Party will be December 3
rd at the PSR class. The next PCCW meeting will be Christmas Crafts on November 24
th.
Deanery Report: No Report. News was shared that Father Snoke is returning home.
Parts have been ordered for the side entrance door, included will be a new plunger style door stop as well as new style stainless steel handle. Discussion took pace regarding the installation of wireless door bells at the Center, installation is expected soon.
Finance and Administration: Father Hammond reported that St. Luke?s Finances continue to be in good condition. The sealing of the parking lot was paid for in October. Quotes for the Church repair project have been sent to the Diocese Finance Director, who indicated that St. Luke?s had a very good reputation with the Diocese. Information on fundraisers for the project will be forthcoming. Father Hammond indicated the Consortium Development is going very well and there are currently no meetings planned.
Community Life: Father Lamy Award Winners for this year are Bobbie Thomas, Vic and Joann Campanelli. Congratulations to Bobbie, Joann and Vic. The Turkey Dinner went well with 396 guests served, up from 350 last year. The Ministry Party is tentatively scheduled for January 4
th; confirmation of the date and time will be forthcoming. Our thanks to Father Hammond, Father Vince and Deacon Brian for joining our Turkey Dinner celebration.
Social Concerns: Discussion took place regarding the need for increased awareness on the issue of family violence in the home. The Christmas giving tree will be put up Thanksgiving weekend. An update was provided on the activity of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, a critical outreach ministry for our Consortium.
Education Report: Thank you to Roger and Marie Holland for again supporting pictures for the prayers for PSR class members. The Parish?s prayers and support of this annual event is greatly appreciated. A meeting was held with 2
nd grade parents in preparation for 2
nd graders? first Reconciliation which will be held on the 2
nd Wednesday of January. A Month of the Holy Rosary was undertaken to teach students how to pray the Rosary. The Kris Kringle Party has been moved to January, more information coming on date and time.
We wish to thank Deacon Tim for his training classes for Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers and Altar Servers around new Altar procedures during Mass.
Safe Environment: Any PSR activity that is off the Church grounds will need a parents permission slip.
Old Business:
Parish Council elections will be held November 15th and 16th. There is still time left for anyone wishing to run for the election. If interested please contact the Parish Office.
Discussion took place regarding the possibility of a new Parish Picture Directory. No decision was made.
New Business:
With fall here and winter approaching, temperature of the church for Masses, funerals and other activities was discussed. The thermostats have been reprogramed to address the issue and ensure comfort.
Input was provided to the Council and a discussion took place regarding a quiet time prior to Mass, permitting all to pray and prepare for the Celebration. As a result of this discussion a request is made to observe a 10 minute quiet time, no singing and minimal talking in a soft voice, prior to Mass. This will allow each person to prepare in their own way for the Mass.
