Parish Council Minutes January 2, 2017
Present: Father Hammond, Dave Rashley, Keith Miller, Don Hawk John Higgins, Tom Harrmann, Bobbi Thomas, Amy Mickley, Marie Holland, Eric Morris, Sheryl Mickley, Don Horn, Barb Horn and Steve Bratton
Approval of Minutes: Don Horn should have been excused, not absent, for December. Motion to approve December minutes with correction.
New Members: Dave Rashley, Don Horn, and Steve Bratton.
Election of Officers: Motion was made to keep the officers the same for this next year. All current officers agreed to hold office for another year. Motion was passed to keep officers the same. Don Hawk- President, Keith Miller- Vice President, and Marie Holland- Secretary
Youth Report: Finished up Advent season lessons on December 11. The youth were given an Advent companion to use through the season to enrich their Advent. The youth set themselves goals for the Advent season; these were sent to them the week of Christmas to see if they met them. The youth group, along with the junior high and high school PSR kids, helped with the PSR K-6 Christmas party. On December 30, 2016, Thirteen St. Luke youth and four from St. Vincent met and went to Pizza Hut and bowling. Currently have 23 people from St. Luke for the Right to Life March trip in January. The kids will be helping at the ministry party this Sunday and on January 14
th will babysit for the fire department’s Christmas Party. Regular meetings will begin January 15
th.
Knights Of Columbus: Family of the Month: No regular meeting in December, Family and Knight of the month will resume this month.
AED is in. Thank you to the generous contributions of the Parish, ~$900 of the $1500 cost was donated. Thank you to the PCCW who has purchased the glass protective case. We will be offering a refresher first aid and introduction to the AED after Sunday Mass in late January or early Feb. Memorial Mass: Was held December 19th followed by a pot luck dinner, well attended and appreciated.

Youth group will also have a bake sale as a fund raiser for their trip.

Squires: The Squires continue to focus on new members for their Circle, membership drive in January. Bake sale at Pancake Breakfast January 15
th.
Parish Council of Catholic Women: Caroling for Christmas was cancelled. PSR kids Christmas party went great, thanks to the youth group for their help. Will have painting January 16
th, sign up on wineandcreativedesign.com. It will be a winter scene with two snowmen in the woods. Donated money to the Youth Group for Right to Life March. Bought the AED case for the center. Will host the 2
nd Jazzy January on the 22
nd from 11-3. This is for people of the parish and community that sell and make things, to help them with their business. Next meeting will be Line Dancing on February 5. Valentine Dance is February 11
th. Cost is $50.00 a couple; tickets on sale now.
Deanery Report: No report
Maintenance: Hoping to get final measurements done for the church side door this week. Handrails for outside the center restrooms will be done soon. Hand soap dispenser and paper towel holder still needs placed by sink in kitchen, otherwise kitchen is done.
Finance & Administration: Remains in good standing
Community Life: We had 87 baskets down one from last year. Thanks to those that came in to wrap presents and pack the baskets. Thanks again to the St. Luke parishioners for all their help. The church was beautifully decorated on December 18
th, thanks to all who stayed and helped. Thank you to Joe Tapocsi for fixing the manger. A couple of the statues need repaired and Judy Hedge has agreed to help with that. Ministry party is January 8
th at 4:30pm.
Social Concerns: January 27th is the Right to Life March in Washington, D.C. This year’s theme is
The Power of One. The Right to Life March website has great of information on it, even for those that can’t attend the march.
Education: January 4, 2017 will be opening Mass for second term and a drug safety class with Officer Perkins. Starting with the January 11
th class there is a time change. Classes will be one hour, from 6:30 to 7:30pm. This is a trial for the month of January. January 25, 2017 will be First Reconciliation for 2
nd grade.
Worship: Lent starts March 1
st.
Safety: Phase 1 for the communication system is 30% complete.
There have been more handicapped parking spaces added.
Alpha program: Update. Was reported that was well attended. The program is easy to understand and felt people were able to understand the message. Looking at doing another season, not sure of day or time.
Men’s and Women’s Conferences: Both these conferences will be in February. There will be posters going up along with brochures in the church. Working on getting buses to transport, similar to last year. More information to come, watch the bulletin.
