APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Bereavement Ministry notes from September will be amended below.
YOUTH REPORT: The Youth Group consists of High School age students (Freshmen through Senior). There are currently 14 students actively attending. The Current
Life Teen curriculum is “Toward the Broken Causes of Injustice”. The YG will be putting together personal hygiene bags for the Winter Sanctuary next week.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: Family of the Month is Steven and Kathryn Dessert Family. The Dessert family are long time members of St. Luke, with a very strong commitment to the Catholic Faith. Steve is a Fourth Degree Knight and is currently the Faithful Navigator for Assembly 2970. Andre, currently on deployment with the US Army, is a Fourth Degree Knight. Steve, Kathryn, and Meralyse all actively support the Friday Fish Fries. The Desserts can also be seen regularly ushering as a family. Steve and Meralyse are Lectors. Kathryn and Meralyse are both Eucharistic Ministers. Recently, Steve could be seen painting the parking lot bumpers and curb. Meralyse is very active with teaching the Second Grade and with Confirmation. The Desserts represent the model of a Knights of Columbus family.
The Knight of the Month is Bob Blubaugh. Bob and Joy are longtime members of St. Luke, as well as the Danville community. He is a devout Catholic; actively volunteering in many Ministries and events at St. Luke. He is a Fourth Degree Knight and is currently the Program Director for Council 910. He is a Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Usher. He regularly attends Eucharistic Adoration, as well as actively supports the Confirmation Class and RCIA. He helps both Thursday and Friday for Fish Fries. Bob is on the Sanctuary Board which is heavily involved with the Community and Bob also taught in the Danville School System for many years. Bob is always willing to help when asked. He is strong in his Faith and Community – which is the essence of a Knight of Columbus.
Squires: The State Volleyball Tournament was recently held with poor attendance. The Squires are in need of greater attendance by members at such events. Please contact Mark Hedge or Dave Rashley with any questions or input.

Upcoming Events: There will be a Fish Fry on October 11
th and 25
th at 5:00pm. Adopt a Highway Pickup will be Sunday, October 13
th at 1:00pm. We will be meeting at Duane Mickley’s shop on US 62. All are welcome – please bring heavy gloves and shoes, as well as a pickup stick.
PARISH COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN: The Daddy Daughter Dance was cancelled due too little to no interest. The Craft Party is Tuesday, October 22
nd and is full with 25 people attending. The Wine and Nails meeting had 8 ladies attend. The Craft Show is November 10
th from 11-2.
DEANERY REPORT: No new report. The next Deanery Meeting is on November 13
th in Granville.
MAINTENANCE: The light post was adjusted/secured. Pressure washing is complete. The sidewalk quote was approved, and the work has started. Some outside drainage issues have been and will continue to be addressed. Tombstone repair is still in process – several have been repaired already.
The 2020 Renovations Committee A General Contractor has been approached/chosen to guide future work. There is a tentative start date of January 2
nd, 2020. Input from the Parish will be sought in the near future on some un-decided details. The committee may be applying for grant money to assist with the costs.
COMMUNITY LIFE: The Turkey Dinner will be November 3
rd – Sign-Ups are out. October 17
th is the Marriage Dinner.
SOCIAL CONCERNS: October is Respect Life Month. October is also dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Journey of Hope, from Violence to Healing is October 11 – 20
th. Murder victim families, and members working to end the death penalty, are offering presentations to Parishes and Schools with a message of love and compassion throughout Ohio. St. James the Less Parish, Columbus, will host a Journey of Hope speaker on Tuesday October 15
th at 7:00pm in the Parish Ministries Center – located on the west side of the Parish grounds (back door). For more details, visit:

The Catholic Prison Ministries Coalition is hosting a webinar entitled “Witnessing for Life in the Face of Death Row” on Tuesday October 22

RESPECT LIFE: The theme for the 2019-2020 Respect Life Program is “Christ is our Hope in Every Season”.
Respect Life Sunday was October 6
th.
The 40 Days for Life Campaign will be held at Founder’s Abortion Pill Clinic, 1243 E. Broad St. Columbus. The campaign runs from September 25
th until November 3

The Building a Culture of Life Conference is October 19
th from 9am to 3pm at St. John Neumann Church, 9633 E. State Rt 37, Sunbury. Join us for an extraordinary event featuring speakers and offering resources to build a culture of life. Also, meet our new Bishop, Robert J. Brennan!
The March for Life is January 24
th, 2020 in Washington D.C. – bus and hotel accommodations are currently being put together. You can find more information at

EDUCATION: The final number of Confirmation participants is 9, with 4 classes completed so far. One student has completed all Service and Adoration hours. The upcoming group project to assist with completing hours will be the Turkey Dinner. They will be helping with trays, cleaning tables, and cleaning dishes. Assistance can also be offered to complete hours at the KofC Pancake Breakfast, Fish Fries, and the PSR Christmas Party in December.
Approximately 30 students have been attending PSR K-6
th each week. An Active Shooter Drill was completed successfully and there will be a Fire Drill October 16
th (weather permitting). A reminder to parents K-4, please come inside to pick up your children. No child should be unattended in the parking lot at any time at the close of PSR. This year, teachers are working with students on understanding the Rosary and prayers.
There is a Teacher’s Meeting on October 20
th at 9:00am.
BEREAVEMENT:September Amended Notes – Since the last meeting of Parish Council, we have had several deaths within our Parish Family including: Sheila Bartok (July 27
th), Joan Sichel (August 6
th), Louie Mickley (August 7
th), and Anita Orndorff (August 26
th). Other deaths where a relationship to our Parish exists include: Madge Smith, mother of Anna Annett (July 29
th), and Joey Arnold (July 29
th), son of Marilyn Arnold. Former members of St. Luke include: Brenda Dixon, widow of Tom (July 20
th), and Joseph Boeshart (May 12
th).
October Notes – No Parish deaths were reported in September. Funeral arrangements for Bill Crawford, who passed away August 30
th, have not yet been made known. Other deaths where a relationship to our Parish exists include: Richard Lewis Sapp, brother of Paul Sapp, passed away September 23
rd. Suzanne Beall, aunt of Marty Miller, passed away September 7
th. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers.
The 2019 Memorial Gathering is planned for December 6
th. Approximately 60 Invitations will be mailed by the end of October, with an RSVP date of November 15
th. A brief meeting is scheduled with those participating in the Bereavement Ministry on October 31
st at 5:00pm at the Community Center.
Lynn Miller has received 3 requests for Memory Bears.
The Ministry has recently been blessed with several anonymous donations. We humbly thank those who have expressed appreciation for our efforts in this manner and promise that these funds will be used to support our efforts to assist others in the future.
WORSHIP: The All Saints Day services (November 1st) will be at 9:00am and 6:30pm. The Penance Service will be December 4
th at 6:30pm.
SAFETY: The new Security System was approved.
Basic Driving Safety Tips: Never drink and drive. Always wear a seatbelt. Follow the 3 Second Rule – keep a safe distance. Always avoid distractions. Never break a red signal. Always drive within the speed limit. Avoid drowsiness while driving. Watch out for other drivers on the road.
